Breastfeeding loses nutritional value after 6 months

This is literally the most ludicrous thing I've ever heard. No. Scratch that. Saying a baby should stop breastfeeding when they get teeth, is.

A friend of mine went to the ER the other day, because she was feeling horrible. She had a high fever, and no energy. She was diagnosed with mastitis, and was told by an asshole, er doctor, that she shouldn't be breastfeeding her 1 year old son anymore, and that breast milk loses nutritional value after 6 months. Luckily, D is a very bright, very well informed mama, and gave this "doctor" an ear full.

It amazes me how misinformed supposed well educated people are. And they're going around spreading their stupidity!

I've heard someone say, on quite a few occasions, that as soon as a baby gets teeth, they should  be weaned.  I almost don't want to dignify that with a response....almost.

Answer me this; if a baby is bottle fed, once he gets teeth, will you rip that bottle away from them? Most likely not, because you don't see the bottle as obscene.

Are you aware that a small percentage of babies are BORN with teeth?? Should they never get to feed from the breast?

Well surely when they start walking, they shouldn't have breast milk.

Jessica from The Leaky Boob once said that we as humans are born prematurely. Other mammals int the world are able to walk within hours of being born, humans sometimes take over a year! Some animals are born with teeth too. Try telling them not to feed their young, the natural way.

Breast milk is amazing. It changes as your child grows, to meet the nutritional needs of said child. Don't be a weaner.
