Saying goodbye and bringing awareness

I hope in this tragedy, we can find a little light. I hope that it will help bring more awareness to bipolar disorder. Robin Williams was a great man, a hilarious comedian, and a fabulous actor. We lost him too soon. He also suffered from a mental illness known as bipolar disorder, that a lot of people over look. And think that people can just get over. It's a brain chemistry thing. It doesn't pick and choose it's victims. Look who it got tonight. Mr. Williams had been suffering from the depressive side of bipolar, but there is also the manic side. When he's full of energy and wild and crazy. That too is hard to live with. You don't sleep, which can cause hallucinations.

Telling someone they have no reason to be depressed, is extremely unsupportive. In fact, sometimes just asking "what are you depressed about" can be viewed as unsupportive, given the tone. There doesn't have to be a reason to be depressed, it's just something that happens sometimes, to some people.

If you ever need someone to talk to, please reach out. I too have felt that I had no one to talk to, and almost made a permanent decision for a temporary problem.

I'm here if you ever need someone to talk to. You are important and loved.
