Goodbye baby, hello little girl

I'm not quite sure how this happened. But Sweet Pea has turned 10 months! We're planning her birthday! It's less than 2 months away now. I can do math. I know that's how it works, and that it makes sense to most people...but it doesn't compute to my mommy brain.

She's been talking up a storm lately. The other morning she was sitting in her crib, connected to the bed, reading her Very Hungry Caterpillar book. She was reading it out loud! It was literally the cutest thing I have ever seen in my entire life.

She's turning into a fun little girl. My baby is slipping through my fingers.

Goodnight Sweet Pea

In the tune of Frere Jacques
Goodnight "Sweet Pea", goodnight "Sweet Pea"
Go to sleep, sleepy girl
Close your little eye lids, close your little eye lids
Go to sleep
Sleepy girl

Breastfeeding loses nutritional value after 6 months

This is literally the most ludicrous thing I've ever heard. No. Scratch that. Saying a baby should stop breastfeeding when they get teeth, is.

A friend of mine went to the ER the other day, because she was feeling horrible. She had a high fever, and no energy. She was diagnosed with mastitis, and was told by an asshole, er doctor, that she shouldn't be breastfeeding her 1 year old son anymore, and that breast milk loses nutritional value after 6 months. Luckily, D is a very bright, very well informed mama, and gave this "doctor" an ear full.

It amazes me how misinformed supposed well educated people are. And they're going around spreading their stupidity!

I've heard someone say, on quite a few occasions, that as soon as a baby gets teeth, they should  be weaned.  I almost don't want to dignify that with a response....almost.

Answer me this; if a baby is bottle fed, once he gets teeth, will you rip that bottle away from them? Most likely not, because you don't see the bottle as obscene.

Are you aware that a small percentage of babies are BORN with teeth?? Should they never get to feed from the breast?

Well surely when they start walking, they shouldn't have breast milk.

Jessica from The Leaky Boob once said that we as humans are born prematurely. Other mammals int the world are able to walk within hours of being born, humans sometimes take over a year! Some animals are born with teeth too. Try telling them not to feed their young, the natural way.

Breast milk is amazing. It changes as your child grows, to meet the nutritional needs of said child. Don't be a weaner.

Letters to Sweet Pea 9.5 months

Dear Sweet Pea,

I can't believe you're almost 10 months old. We're planning your first birthday and it still doesn't seem real that you're here, that you're ours. You're this amazing gift that I get to wake up to, each and every day.

You have become quite the little eater. You can down 6 oz. from your bottle, like it's nothing. Your all time favorite food is currently, steak. You suck all the juice right out of it. You also love sharing a pear at lunch time, with mommy. You also like applesauce, broccoli, carrots and refried beans. Not to mention potatoes. We even got a video of you eating a lemon, but you liked it and got mad when we took it away!

You still sleep with mommy every night, and I wouldn't trade it for the world! I did connect the crib to the bed because, sometimes you get so wiggly and seem to do better on your own for a couple hours.

Sometimes you fall asleep on me when daddy and I are watching a movie before bed, around 9pm. Or sometimes I take you into bed at 10:30pm and you're still not ready to settle down! But, without fail, you are up by 8:30am, every morning.

I hold you while you nap. And you know what? I love it! You're growing so quickly, and someday you won't want mommy to hold you while you sleep. So I will do it while I still can.

Developmentally you have sky rocketed! You have started crawling, learned to get in the seated position on your own (you were very excited!), you've learned to pull yourself up an you've started walking while holding onto things! Proud doesn't begin to describe it. You continue to amaze me each and every day.

You've also cut 7, 7!!! teeth in the past month and a half! That's a lot of teeth for a little baby! And you're working on your 8th one. Some of them, you had a really rough time with. But most of them you've done amazingly well. You like to test them out, while biting.

The weather is warming up, so we're trying to get out of the house a little more. We've taken you to the park a couple times, and plan on going today. As soon as you wake up from your nap. Daddy installed your new car seat, you officially outgrew your infant one.

You love playing with your toys. You will stand at your toy box for several minutes deciding on which toy to play with. Your all time favorite thing to play with, is daddy. You light up every time you see him and crawl as fast as you can to get to him. He'll throw you in the air and toss you on a pile of pillows, and you just giggle.

We love you more than words can describe. You are my sunshine. You are my Sweet Pea.

Goodnight Sweet Pea

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy, when skies are grey
You'll never know dear, how much I love you
So please don't take my sunshine away

I just can't believe it

It's so exciting seeing Sweet Pea growing and changing each and every day. Yet, on the other hand, it's absolutely heartbreaking. Where is my little baby? She's newly 9 months old, and learning to walk?!! She just cut her 7th tooth, and is growing like a weed.

She has the best personality! She is so much fun to get down on the floor to play with, and she's hilarious! She's recently started laughing like Sheldon, from The Big Bang Theory. It's adorable.

I do miss her being tiny, but this stage is so much fun!!
