Easter Weekend

Easter was amazing! We're not a religious family, so I guess it's more celebrating the beginning of Spring for us.

We originally weren't going to do an Easter basket because Sweet Pea is still too young to grasp the concept, and we didn't have the money. But we ended up going to the dollar store, and got some really cute stuff!
I'm really big on no candy. Obviously for kids Sweet Pea's age, but older too. I'm by no means a "kale chip mom". I just don't think kids need a basket full of chocolate and other candies to make a holiday fun. So Sweet Pea got pink bunny ears, that she promptly ripped off her head. A princess crown with flowers, rubber ducky, 3 board books, a fabric doll and empty plastic Easter eggs. Next year they'll be filled with non candy goodies.
The day before Easter, Easter Eve, Sweet Pea and I got crafty.
I got the idea from Pinterest, which led me to this blog. I think it turned out really cute! I wish I had started footprint crafts earlier with her, to have them to remember.
After a quiet Easter morning just the three of us, we hurried to get ready to my Dad's side of the family, for brunch.

I didn't get many pictures of Sweet Pea there, but we had a lot of fun. We celebrated 6 birthdays!! So, there was cake. Sweet Pea was sure she needed some but, I've been very strict...no cake until her first birthday. She doesn't need it. There is no nutritional value to it.

Anyway, she went around to every single person begging for cake. She even started climbing up one of my male cousin's legs, trying to get his cake! And did a little dance for him!! LOL He thought it was hilarious...it was.

We did get a couple of sweet pictures of Sweet Pea with my Grandmother. They're so sweet together.

How this mornings breakfast went

I prepared oatmeal with some applesauce in it for Sweet Pea, like I've done dozens of times. And cut up some banana for her to feed herself.

I fed her a few bites of oatmeal, as she screamed at me in between each bite, I assumed because I wasn't feeding her fast enough.

She squished the banana in her hands. And rubbed it in her hair. I despise bananas. Like, they make me gag. So....this is extra gross.

I fed, tried to her more oatmeal, and she slapped the spoon out of my hand. The oatmeal went flying all across my arm, and my fresh laundered shirt. -.- Thanks kid.

I may have said a bad word.

She ate in total, 4 bites of oatmeal, and 4 bites of banana.

I knew she wanted cottage cheese. If my Poops wanted cottage cheese, cottage cheese is what she was going to get. So I got it. Scooped it into a bowl. Spooned some for Sweet Pea....she stone walled me. Not one bite. -.-

I think she's teething. She's very cranky and clingy. Poor baby.

Proof that I don't usually mind a mess

My baby is growing too fast, and it's hard

Yesterday was a hard day for me. I got up with Sweet Pea, like every other morning. Got her changed and dressed. Then just handed her to Mister with her morning bottle, and went back to bed. I stayed in bed until nearly 11:30am! Mister did bring Sweet Pea in for diaper changes, and to have a nap. But other than that, he let me be. And I needed it.

I continued the rest of the day in a funk. I'm admining for Rock-a-bye-booty B/S/T, which is a lot of fun. And I did get to talk to the creator of the page and diapers, a new friend, T. That cheered me up. When it was time for bed, I was more than ready! My front room looked like a tornado had hit it, and I was not in the mood to clean it up.

Once Sweet Pea started to fall asleep, I snuggled in close, and I cried. I cried because she's growing up so fast, too fast. And I felt like I wasted what little time I had left with her as a little baby, in bed. I felt, guilty.

I knew she was being taken care of, I knew Mister could handle it. I now know it was irrational, but I couldn't help it. My tiny baby is going to be 1 in a little over a month, and I'm just not ready. It's a very emotional time for a mom.

Why my head hurts *Video*

All day yesterday, Sweet Pea was screaming. And not angry screaming, or sad screaming. Just screaming to hear herself scream. It was funny at first, but towards the end of the day....it was exhausting.

She's been eating more and more table food. This morning she had peaches, cottage cheese, and toast. That's a lot of food for such a little baby. But this means she's cutting back on her formula, which is nice. Because, that shiz is expensive!

Her birthday is fast approaching. And I'm not ready. Both physically, and mentally. I have things I want to do for her party, but it's all a little bit overwhelming. We are going to get to see the BIL and 3 of his 5 kids though. So that will be nice.

Easter is this weekend. I'm not sure if we're going to have a basket for Sweet Pea this year or not. Money is tight, and she's a little young anyway. We'll be going to my Aunt's house, so I'm sure there will be *sugarless* goodies there.

Sweet Pea has been biting lately. And if/when we say "OW!".....she laughs. I've read that you should put them down and walk out of the room, but that seems like a lot of work. I rarely get to sit as it is. Do I really want to get up every time she bites too?

She has my *clean* underwear spewed all over the front room now. I guess that's a hint to fold laundry and put it away.

Sweet Pea giggles *video*

My mom came over to visit yesterday. We tried to install an extra car seat that we had, in her car....two hours later, we gave up and just installed the one we have in our car, into her car.

She took Sweet Pea and I out to dinner, while Mister took a nap. (oh the life of a father) The waitress was absolutely smitten with Sweet Pea. She has a little boy just a month younger than Sweet Pea. And Sweet Pea at a whole bushel of grapes!! Plus some pancakes, and ham! A hungry little baby!!

When we got home my mom was getting THE best giggles! I've never been able to catch them on camera. It's not the best quality, but it's still SO freaking cute!! Omg. I can't even handle it!!

Letters to Sweet Pea

Dear Sweet Pea,

I couldn't sleep last night. I am a walking zombie today. I laid in bed, holding you in my arms, watching you sleep. You're so beautiful. And so peaceful when you sleep.

I laid in bed thinking about, how a year ago, you were still inside my belly. And I was counting down the weeks and days until I was going to get to meet you. I was also thinking about how pretty soon, I won't be able to say that. "A year ago, you were inside my belly". And then I got a little sad, because you're growing up so fast! So I scooped you up in my arms, and kissed you all over your face. But that woke you up. I quickly put you back down and snuggled up to you, and whispered in your ear, "I love you to the moon and back"

One of our favorite cloth covers

One of our favorite cloth diaper covers is by Rock-a-bye-booty. They are so cute, and never leak! The woman that makes them all herself, is not having the best luck selling them. Facebook has been limiting what people can see from small businesses for a while now. She's thinking about shutting down business. Sweet Pea's booty would be very sad.

So if you're a cloth diapering mama, in search for a new, awesome cover; head over to:

Throwback Thursday

Sweet Pea always hated being swaddled. Even when she was teeny tiny, she loved sprawling out to sleep. Now she likes to sleep curled up next to me, but wiggles if I snuggle her too close.
Sweet Pea was only about 3 weeks old here.

Velcro = Pants on

Sunday afternoon we had some of my family over for Mister's birthday, which was yesterday. We had pizza, and I made cupcakes. My dad and step-mom got him a couple gift certificates to our favorite restaurant, that my family has been going to since my dad was a child. So, we decided to go last night, for Mister's actual birthday.

As soon as we got in the car, Sweet Pea fell asleep. Which was bitter sweet because, I wasn't sure she knew she could fall asleep in her new car seat, without melting down. But, we don't live that far away from the restaurant....so we drove around a bit, and got gas. Then, just headed there. We ended up waking her once we got there, but she was jolly to get out of the car.

She ate so much! She had 3-4 olives, a cracker, some cream of broccoli soup, several bites of PRIME RIB, gerber puffs, some pickle.....My mind was a little blown. As was her diaper a couple hours later.

Yea. That's what this post is really about. Poop.

I cleaned her up, put a fresh diaper on her. And we, as a family, sat down to watch some tv before bed. I looked over to Sweet Pea playing on the floor, and noticed her playing with a cloth. Didn't think too much of it. But looked a few more times, because I didn't know what it was. IT WAS HER DIAPER! Not just her diaper, her POOPY diaper! OMG! Two poops in one day?!

Mister grabbed Sweet Pea, I grabbed the diaper, and we all three ran down the hall. I cleaned her up again. Put her night time diaper on, and came back out to the front room, expecting the worst.

There was no poop anywhere! It all stayed in the diaper.

New rule. Velcro = Pants on!
